To ensure that the installation of decorative mouldings meets design requirements, relevant construction standards must be strictly adhered to.
Material Selection and Acceptance
Decorative mouldings are made of a variety of materials, including wood, plaster, PVC, and metal. The appropriate material should be selected based on the intended use. Before installation, inspect the mouldings for surface flatness, crack-free surfaces, and dimensional tolerances that meet national standards (typically, ±1mm is permitted). Wood mouldings require moisture-proofing treatment, while metal mouldings require rust-proofing to ensure environmental compliance.
Substrate Preparation
The substrate must be flat, firm, and free of looseness or cracks. Concrete or plaster substrates must be dry (moisture content ≤ 8%), and wood substrates must be flat and free of warping. If the substrate is uneven, apply putty or cement mortar to level it. After drying, sandpaper to smooth it to ensure that there are no gaps or unevenness in the mouldings after installation.
Installation Techniques
Decorative mouldings must be installed using a dedicated adhesive, nailing, or a combination of both. Apply adhesive evenly, maintaining a spacing of 15-20cm between nails. Repair nail holes with the same color material. Joints should be tight, with a joint width of 0.5mm or less. Use 45° diagonal joints at corners to ensure straight lines and no misalignment.
Quality Acceptance
After completion, inspect the moldings for strength and tightness, joints, and surface contamination and damage. Verticality deviation should be ≤2mm/m, and horizontality deviation should be ≤1mm/m. During acceptance, feeler gauges can be used to check for gaps to ensure compliance with the "Quality Acceptance Standard for Building Decoration and Renovation Projects" (GB 50210).
